moving without navigating

GPS devices make me lose my way. My assumption, before using one, was that not having to pay attention to where and when to turn would free me up to experience the passing landscape more deliberately. Instead I end up in my head; unaware of my surroundings and forgetting where I was going. Moving without navigating makes finding my way more difficult.

  1. Yes! This has been my experience as well. Well put.
That said, I have sometimes wished for a mental GPS device for help in navigating certain social situations. ("Take a right...at the punchbowl. Here comes Robin...whose daughter's name is Jane. Ask... about her recent tonsillectomy.")
